Aziz Sarı, spokeperson of İHD Adana Branch Prisons Commission, said that Fevzi and Ömer Arslan, Celal Ercan and Hacı Alagaş are seriosuly ill prisoners in Suluca High Security Prison No 1 and they have risk of death. Sarı stated that the hospital transfers of the ill prisoners are not accepted despite their applications and underlined that the Arslan brothers are in high danger of life. Sarı demanded the release of seriously ill prisoners and called on the Ministry of Justice to do so.    Sarı stated that ill prisoners in Adana prisons face serious problems in accessing health care. Stressed that 403 prisons in Turkey have more prisoners than their capacity, Sarı shared the information that as of 1 July 2024, the capacity of prisons is 295 thousand 328 people but the number of prisoners reached 342 thousand 526.    'TYPE S AND Y PRISONS ARE ARCHITECTURES OF TORTURE'   Noting that the prison system has been constantly changed since the 12 September coup in order to increase the pressure on prisoners, Sarı pointed out that S and Y Type Prisons were built with "torture architecture".    These types of prisons prepare the ground for human rights violations by isolating prisoners said Sarı and added: "Prisoners in these prisons are trying to resist the conditions of aggravated isolation. Prisoners are prevented from conditional release through regulations such as good behaviour criteria without creating physical and social conditions suitable for human dignity."
