Popular Initiative condemned massacre of Alevis 2025-03-14 16:19:51   NEWS CENTER - Popular Initiative for North and East Syria made a statemen of solidarity with the Alevi community massacred in coastal cities.    Popular Initiative for North and East Syria condemned the massacres against Alevis in the coastal region. Initiative members Darshin Khalil and Nuha Omar read the text of the statement at the demonstration in front of Mohammad Sheikho Culture and Art Centre in Qamishli.   The statement read: "With the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime on January 8, 2024, Syria entered a new phase. Along with this new phase, the Syrian people’s faith and hope for liberation from years of devastating war and the building of a free and democratic Syria increased.   However, all this hope has been shattered by the inhumane massacres that have been committed, especially against our brothers from the Alawite community in recent days in the coastal cities of Syria, turning this hope into a humanitarian tragedy.   We, the people of North and East Syria, feel the pain of these inhumane massacres and share in the great suffering they have experienced, standing by their side.   On this basis, we announce to the public that we are ready to provide all forms of support to our fellow citizens in the coastal cities of Syria, as a humanitarian and national duty, and to share in their pain and suffering.   We also call on all our people to offer material and moral support to our people in the coast. Today is a day for unity, for sharing hope."
