URFA - Emine Bilici whose two sons are currently on hunger strike underlined that the freedom of Öcalan must be ensured for peace and called for solidarity with the hunger strikers.

The indefinite non-rotating hunger strike launched by the prisoners on November 27 against the isolation imposed on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues on its 64th day. Mother of Mehmet Binici from Urfa No 2 Type T Closed Prison and İbrahim Binici from Sincan Type F Prison Emine Binici made a call and said the demands of the prisoners must be met.

Stating that 9 of her 10 sons were arrested in different times and two of them are still in prison, Binici said their house was raided by the police and the soldiers many times and they were tortured as a family each time.

Binici said: "They broke the locks and the doors and took one of my children into custody each time. I had heart attacks during some of these raids. I stayed in the Intensive Care Unit. Remembering these days renews my pain. It is very hard for me to tell you what we have been through because of my illness. I will never forget the torture I had to endure. But I never regretted where I stand.

Stating that besides her sons, two more of her relatives, İsa, Mehmet, Emin and Mahir Binici are currently in prison and on hunger strike.

MEET THE DEMANDS

Stating that she was not able to see her son Mehmet Binici who is being held in Urfa No 2 Type T Closed Prison for a long time, mother Binici said: "I spoke to him on the phone recently. I asked how he was doing and he told me he was on hunger strike and they will not stop until their demands are met. My son has chronic asthma. I am very worried about him. He is in great danger because of the pandemic now. Meet the demands."

Underlining that she considers all prisoners on hunger strike as her own children, Binici said: "We should voice their demands as the mothers and the Kurdish people. I will stand by them until the last drop of my blood. He had been on a hunger strike for 2 months before this one. This was what I told him back then."

Mother Binici underlined that Öcalan's freedom must be ensured in order for the peace to be esnured.
