İSTANBUL - The families of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners in İmralı applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to visit their imprisoned family members.
Mehmet Öcalan, the brother of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan who has been held in İmralı F Type High Security Prison and Mazlum Dinç, the custodian of Öcalan, applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to visit İmralı. Emin Konar, the brother of Ömer Hayri Konar as well as Polat Yıldırım, the brother of Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş's sister Melihe Çetin and her daughter Eylem Çetin also applied to the prosecutor's office through their lawyers.
YILDIRIM COULDN'T BE VISITED
Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysi Aktaş was visited by their families on June 5 and August 12 of 2019 and March 2 of 2020 since March 15, 2015. Hamili Yıldırım was visited by his family only on June 5 and August 12. His visiter was sick when the families were granted the right to visit on March 2, after there was a fire in İmralı Island.
PHONE RIGHTS
Öcalan was able to use his right to speak on the phone on April 27 for the first time after 21 years, and was able to speak to his brother Mehmet Öcalan. Other prisoners in İmralı were also able to make phone calls with their families for the first time since 2015 on the same day.
