AMED - Reacting against the prevention of the delegation travelling to take the bodies of Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, "Preventing the taking the funerals is the biggest immorality " says MEBYA-DER co-chair Mehmet Emin Kılıç.
Journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin were killed by Turkey's UCAV attack on 19 December on the road between Tishreen Dam and Sirîn town. A delegation consisting of the families and representatives of civil society organizations to take the funerals of murdered journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin were stopped at he Habour Border Gate in Silopi district of Şirnex (Şırnak). The delegation including DEM Party Mêrdîn MP Kamuran Tanhan, Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG), Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD), representatives of NGOs and families have been kept waiting since 6 January.
Mehmet Emin Kılıç, co-chair of Association of Families who Lost Relatives in the Cradle of Civilisations (MEBYA-DER), reacted against the prevention of the returning of the bodies.
ILLEGALITY
Stating that the prevention of taking the bodies means the trampling of human rights, Kılıç reminded that this prevention against bodies is not the first time. Stating that Turkey has been committing this unlawful behaviour regarding the right to burial since the past, Kılıç said, "There is no explanation for the attacks against funerals. Because there is nothing more immoral than that."
Emphasising that journalists should be protected under all circumstances, "The death of journalists is already another evil. Preventing the funeral is an even heavier cruelty. This is unspeakable in terms of religion, civilisation, humanity and morality. If you kill even one person with a gun in his hand, you cannot prevent this funeral," Kılıç said.
LET THE PASSAGE BE ALLOWED
Evaluating the obstruction of the funeral as "the biggest immorality", Kılıç continued, "Everyone should protect that funeral. The delegation should be allowed as soon as possible and the family should take the funerals. The family has been on the road for 2-3 days. How can your conscience accept this? Let the people go and mourn by taking their funerals. You have already burned their hearts, there is no need to add to their pain. Religiously, humanly, there is no explanation for this. Let the funerals be taken and buried as sson as possible."
