Al-Aqtan Prison in Raqqa, where thousands of ISIS members were held, was surrounded by ISIS, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and paramilitary forces affiliated with Turkey. 

 

Violent attacks were carried out against the prison for days. ISIS members held in the prison attempted to escape on numerous occasions. However, all these attempts were repelled as a result of the SDF and YPG-YPJ fighters’ day-long, unparalleled resistance.
