Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari Deputy Leyla Güven is in the 70th day of the hunger strike she started to protest the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.The women who attended People's Democratic Congress (HDK) Women's Congress said: 'Be the voice of Leyla Güven, give your voice to the resistance'.

 

Derya Yulcu,  Education and Science Workers' Union (Eğitim Sen) Headquarters Secretary-General for Women, stating a person's laying their bodies to hunger, that even it is the last thing to do shows the antidemocratic practices, the unlawfulnesses in our country. It shows that we are in a threshold where we risk losing social peace for good.

 

Yulcu stating that this strike is the most important action in our day that shows the darkness we are in, said: "Let's be the voice of Leyla Güven to solve the Kurdish problem peacefully with democratic ways  to establish the peace talks again and to end the isolation."

 

Democratic Women's Movement member Fatoş Kaya underlined the fact that Leyla Güven is in critical condition. Kaya who stated that the isolation is not only in İmralı but in the whole  country, said: " All the people living in Turkey is in isolation. There is an isolation imposed on the Kurdish, the Alawite, the labourers, the women..We are standing against that isolation. Leyla Güven have taken a monumental step in this sense."
