İSTANBUL- Selme Oduncu ,mother of Zerdeşt Oduncu who is on a hunger strike since December 16i n Edirne Type F Closed Prison, said his son is no longer able to meet his basic needs alone in the solitary confinement cell he is being kept at and that he is detoriorating.
The hunger strike Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Party (HDP) HAkkari Deputy Leyla Güven have initiated demanding the termination of the isolation is continuing. Family of Zerdüşt Oduncu (27) stated that they saw their son at the visitation and he is detoriorating.
Oduncu who was taken under custody in a construction site he was working in in Mardin, Derek in 2011, was sentenced to 174 years of prison sentence with the accusation that he bombed Derik Police Station. Oduncu who set his body on fire on the anniversary of Öcalan's extradiction to Turkey, was finally sent to Edirne Type F Closed Prison.
Mother Oduncu who stated that his son is detoriorating and he was already in bad shape, said: "He couldn't stand for even half a minute. Who loses his balance, he has diarrhea all the time, and he is spitting blood when he coughs. He has dizziness,nausea and amnesia. They don't give him the necessary vitamins. Even the sugar, water and fruit juice isn't being given regularly.
Mother Oduncu who said his son is being kept in solitary confinement and he can not meet his basic needs alone, said he barely gets out of bad during the day.
Oduncu who stated that despite all of these, his son's morale is high, said he claims his son's resistance and she respects him. Oduncu said: "He is already in prison, keeping him in solitary confinement is torture. I am proud of my son. If he dies, he'll die with honour. Our children are not alone. We are behind them. The demands must be met so that the mother's won't cry. I want peace. We will do all that we can. I believe we will succeed."
