ŞIRNAK - Police attacked the party members and citizens who came together to protest the appointment of the trustee to Cizre Municipality. HDP's Nuran İmir got injured in the police intervention. Citizens protested with the slogan 'We will resist and we will win'.
The fact that District Governer Davut Sinanoğlu was appointed as a trustee to the Cizre Municipality won by People's Democratic Party (HDP) in the March 31 elections was protested by the citizens. Early this morning, Sinanoğlu was appointed as a trustee to replace Cizre Municipality Co-Mayor Mehmet Zırığ. Following the appointment the municipality building was surrounded by the police and blockaded.
People started to gather in front of the party building, including HDP Şırnak MP Nuran İmir and Hasan Özgüneş, replaced Co-Mayors Berivan Kutlu and Mehmet Zırığ. Police prevented the people from making a statement and surrouned the people. Tension rose between the police and the elected mayors. 4 people were detained including HDP Municipal Council members mesut Uçkaç and Serhat Küçük. Many people were battered by the riot police. HDP's İmir were taken to District State Hospital as a result of the police attack.
Journalists and deputy advisers who wanted to get images were blocked by some policemen with shields.
