İSTANBUL - Families of the prisoners reaction to the law proposal on execution which is currently being discussed at the parliament, said: "The law proposal on execution contains hatred. We are concerned about the spread of the epidemic in prisons. The prisons must be evacuated immediately.

 

The prisoners are at great risk due to the Coronavirus (Covid- 19) outbreak. The law proposal introduced by the government which does not include political prisoners causes reactions. 

 

Şerafettin İldırım, husband of  59 year old Songül İldırım,stated that his wife is in İstanbul Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison and has lung disease, is in the risk group. İldırım said: "I spoke to my wife on friday. She said no measures were taken inside the prison. The demands of the prisoners are not met. The prisoners are trying to keep the wards clean on their own means. They are washing the wards frequently, which causes them to catch a cold."

 

İldırım, stating that the medication his wife needs is frequently not given, said: "My wife as a lung disease. I am scared that if she is infected with coronavirus, she may not survive. Their approach against the political prisoners contains hatred. They should abandon this discrimination. All prisoners must be released, especially those who are sick."
