28 years old prisoner Mustafa Koçak was sentenced to life imprisonment based on contradictory statements of an informant. Koçak, jailed in Kırıklar No.1 F Type Prison in İzmir province, went on a hunger strike demanding a fair trial and turned his protest on the 90th day into death fast which is on day 286.

 

On the 255th day of his fast, Koçak was forcibly taken to the hospital in the prison complex and he was given serum. His lawyer said that her client was tortured for 5 days in the prison campus hospital.

 

Mustafa’s sister Mine Koçak has gone on a one-week hunger strike in the vicinity of the prison in solidarity with her brother. Mine Koçak is joined by Sinan Yanbal and Mahir Kılıç who also started hunger strike on Monday.

 

Speaking about the action, Mine Koçak said; “I am proud tos hare the hunger of my brother. We demand his immediate release from prison.”
