DİYARBAKIR - Celebrating the 15 May Kurdish Language Day, TJA stressed that they will continue to fight for the freedom of languages.
The Free Women Movement (TJA) has issued a written statement on the May 15 Kurdish Language Day. In the statement which emphasizes that the language problem is a women's issue, "It is the women who fights for language and existance. Kurdish women stands against the intense attacks on their language and culture. Kurdish women have made their tongue a weapon against their executioner and never took a step back. That is why the ruling powers targets women when they resort to assimilation. The government has also aimed to detract the Kurdish women from their mother tongues. Women, who are the identity and construction of the society, have always been the target of the government and continues to be so" was underlined.
FREEDOM OF LANGUAGUES
The statement continued: "In this meaningful day, TJA commemorates those who fight for language, those who do not compromise from their identity and language, who do not step back in the face of denial and destruction with respect. We celebrate the Kurdish Language Day and reiterate tge importance to own this day. We will continue to fight for the freedom of languages until the end."
