İSTANBUL -The families of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners in İmralı applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to visit their imprisoned family members.
Mehmet Öcalan, the brother of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan who has been held in İmralı F Type High Security Prison and Mazlum Dinç, the custodian of Öcalan, applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to visit İmralı. Emin Konar, the brother of Ömer Hayri Konar as well as Polat Yıldırım, the brother of Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş's sister Melihe Çetin and her daughter Eylem Çetin also applied to the prosecutor's office through their lawyers.
Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysi Aktaş, who went to İmralı as “Secretariat" on March 15, 2015, together with Hamili Yıldırım who was taken to İmralı on June 15, 2015 could have met with their families only on June 5 and August 12, 2019. All applications filed by families since August 12 2019 have been rejected.
LAWYERS ALSO APPLIED FOR A VISIT
On the other hand, Öcalan's lawyers Faik Özgür Erol, Cengiz Yürekli, Mazlum Dinç and Nevroz Uysal have also made a new application to the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to meet with their clients.
Öcalan's lawyers Rezan Sarıca and Newroz Uysal had a meeting with Öcalan for the first time after 8 years on 2 May, 22 May and 12 June. All applications filed by lawyers to meet with their clients since 7 August were not responded neither positive nor negative.
PHONE CALL AFTER 21 YEARS
PKK Leader Abdullah ÖCalan has been denied his right to phone call in prison for the last 21 years. On April 27, he was allowed to speak to his brother Mehmet Öcalan on the phone after all these years. Other prisoners in İmralı have also been able to speak with their families for the first time since 2015.
