July report of MKG: 4 women journalists sentenced

AMED - According to MKG's July rights violations report, 4 women journalists were sentenced and 7 women journalists are still in prison. 

Mezopotamya Women Journalists' Association (MKG) announced the "Violations of Rights against Women Journalists in July" report. It is stated in the report that the pressure against women journalists continues. 
 
Reminding that Turkey ranked 165th among 180 countries in the 2023 World Press Freedom Index prepared by the international organization Reporters Without Borders (RFS), the report stated that Turkey has moved from the "problematic" category to the "grave" category. 
 
'WE WILL CONTINUE OUR STRUGGLE'
 
The report emphasized that Kurdish women journalists are under the judicial grip of the government and stated the following: "At the final hearing of the case against Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporters Diren Yurtsever, Berivan Altan, Ceylan Şahinli, Zemo Ağgöz, JINNEWS reporters Habibe Eren and Öznur Değer, who were arrested on October 29, 2022 within the scope of the Ankara-based investigation and released on May 16, 2023, our friends Diren Yurtsever, Berivan Altan Zemo Ağgöz and Öznur Değer were sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison.  As both witnesses and survivors of these attacks, we will continue our struggle for women's visibility while defending our profession. We are aware that it is our organization and solidarity that will protect us against the attacks of the government, which is hostile to women struggling for their freedom and lives." 
 
The report lists the violations of rights as follows:
