Özsoy: The operation is not limited with Metîna, Avaşîn and Zap

ANKARA - Stating that the TAF operation is not limited with Metîna, Avaşîn and Zap, HDP's Hişyar Özsoy said: "There is a much wider, regional concept here. They are undermining the regional gains of the Kurds."

After the phone call between US President Joe Biden and AKP President Tayip Erdogan on April 23, a military operation was launched in the Federated Kurdistan Region. Hişyar Özsoy, Co-Spokesperson of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Foreign Relations Commission, drew attention to the role of the United States Turkey's cross border operations. Expressing that the issue of US support to Turkey is not new, Özsoy said: "It is not possible for us to know to what extent thety coordinate or support these operations but if they do support, it wouldn't be surprising. They have been doing this for a long time. . Does the Federated Kurdistan Regional Government support such operations at the intelligence level or do they support these operations practically? There are serious discussions about this. It is possible that Turkey, USA and Federated Kurdistan government coordinate at some point. I don't have the documents to prove this but there are indications of it."

Underlining that the timing of the operations should not be taken into consideration and that the operations against Federated Kurdistan will continue as long as the international conjuncture permits, Özsoy said: "They say they are fighting the PKK. But many politicians agree that the reason is not the PKK. Turkey is settling in South Kurdistan step by step. They want to go further into the borders and permanently stay there."

DİYARBAKIR IS THE PLACE TO FIND THE SOLUTION

Underlining that the Kurdish problem can not be solved by cross border operations, Özsoy said: "I was in primary school when these operations started. I am 45 now. They are still doing these operations. These problems can only be solved in Diyarbakır and Ankara. The Kurdish problem is the most important issue of the Middle East now. You can't solve this with F-16's bombing mountains and valleys."

Expressing that despite the operations and attacks, the Kurdish problem has become an ever growing international problem, Özsoy said, "They may have dreams of opening corridors by getting support from Washington, agreeing with Hewlêr, and including Baghdad, but how will they make peace with 40 million Kurds?"

MOVE AGAINST THE GAINS OF KURDS

Stating that Turkey is trying to maintain it's invasion in South Kurdistan, Özsoy said: "To be clear, if Iraq falls in the upcoming days, Turkey will invade at least half of the country. They are preparing for that. This is not only a move against the PKK but it is a move against the Kurds in the Middle East. But they can't. Every attack will bring the Kurdish problem a little bit closer to the solution."

Özsoy pointed out that the last operation against Metîna, Avaşîn and Zap had less media coverage than previous operations and explained the reasons as follows: “In the past, victories were declared in the press before the operations, but when their operations so far ended in defeat, they did not hurry to declare vistory in the press. And another reason for this is their aim to make room for themselves in there."

STATEMENT OF BARZANİ

Reming the statement Barzani made about them not having any problems with the Kurds except for the PKK, Özsoy said: "It is not possible to understand how they are in such a historical error. They keep saying that they don't have a problem with the Kurds except for the PKK. But everyone in a right state of mind knows that this state has a structural and existential problem with the Kurds. They would have a problem if the Kurds made a move to have status in Mars. So let's not kid ourselves. This wave of attack is against all gains of the Kurds in the Middle East recently."
