Protesters march ahead of anti-exploitation rally

DÊRSIM – Ahead of a rally organized under the slogan “We will not allow plunder and profit; we will win, life will win”, demonstrators in Dêrsim (Tunceli) held a march through the city.
 
The Dêrsim Nature, Life, and Environment Platform is set to hold a rally at Seyîd Rıza Square against environmental destruction in the region. Prior to the main event, participants gathered at Sanat Street, carrying banners reading “No to Plunder in Dêrsim”, “No to Dams in Dêrsim”, “No to Mining in Dêrsim”, “Don’t Touch My Nature, Water, or Soil”, and in Kurmanji: “We Do Not Allow Plunder”, “The City and the Land Are Ours, We Stand Guard”, and “Dêrsim Is Not Ownerless”, as they marched toward Seyîd Rıza Square.
 
During the march, demonstrators also carried placards reading “The Underground Is Richer Than the Surface”, “No to Mines in Geyiksuyu”, “Don’t Touch My Water and Soil”, “Don’t Touch My Sacred Sites”, and “No to the Plunder Law”. Slogans included “We Will Win by Resisting”, “No Passage to Trustees”, “Resistance Continues, Solidarity Grows”, and “Dêrsim Will Not Become İliç”. Upon reaching the square, participants awaited the start of the rally with applause, ululations, and traditional dance.
