Attacks against Alevis continue in Syria

NEWS CENTER - Attacks against Alevis continue in coastal and central Syria.

 
In the town of Mehrus, west of Hama in Syria, a group of individuals on motorcycles and armed with weapons reportedly bombarded homes and shops with bombs and bullets. The attack caused material damage and sparked fear and panic among the population. 
 
It was reported that supporters of the transitional government attacked homes in many neighbourhoods, particularly in the Meshrui Sabail, Ziraa and El-Ezher neighbourhoods of Latakia. 
 
It was alleged that an Alevi child in the city was attacked, beaten and threatened to renounce child’s sect. The images, which spread rapidly, sparked outrage and indignation among the public.
