City by city call for May Day 2025-04-29 15:47:14   NEWS CENTER - 1 May Worker's Day rallies to be held in many cities were called for participation.    Izmir May Day Organising Committee made a statement at the entrance of Konak Kemeraltı Bazaar to call for the May Day rally to be held in the city. Speaking on behalf of the Organising Committee, Zohre Dalkiran, Secretary of the Izmir Bar Association, emphasised that the system exposes people to poverty and the cost of living more and more. Zohre Dalkiran stated that the sustem does not solve any problems and makes the rich richer, and called for unity against the targeting of all segments of society. After the press statement, the mass distributed leaflets calling for May Day in Kemeralti Bazaar.    AMED     A statement was made in front of Ofis AZC Plaza in Yenisehir district for May Day to be celebrated in Statin Square in Amed (Diyarbakır). Representetives of trade unions, professional organisations and political parties attended the statement.    DEM Party Provincial Co-Chair Gülşen Özer stated that 1 May Worker's Day is important and invited women and young people to the rally to be held in İstasyon Square on May Day. ESP Party Assembly (PM) member Beycan Taşkıran stated that the peoples in Kurdistan are struggling for an honourable peace. Stating that 102 people were detained in Istanbul on May Day, Beycan Taşkıran called for the release of those detained and invited everyone to İstasyon Square. After the statement, the slogans "Bijî yek gulan (Long live May Day)" were chanted. The masses distributed leaflets together and invited shopkeepers and the public to the rally.   MERSIN     DEM Party Mersin Women's Assembly and Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinen Azad-TJA) organised a meeting at the party building to call for May Day. During the meeting the slogans "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)" were chanted.   DEM Party Mersin Provincial Co-Chair Bedriye Kuş pointed out the systemic attacks against women and emphasised that they will fight against the male-dominated system. Bedriye Kuş called on everyone to take to the streets.  A march will be organised from the DEM Party provincial building to the area for the rally to be held near Tevfik Sırrı Gür Stadium in Mersin.   ADANA   May Day will be celebrated in Station Square in Adana and the Adana Provincial Organisation of the DEM Party distributed May Day leaflets to citizens in neighbourhood markets and fields in Ceyhan, Yüreğir and Seyhan districts. DEM Party members invited the people to May Day.
