HAKKARİ - Mother Safiye Geylani, who wants the freedom of her two ill prisoner sons, whom she has not seen for years due to health problems and financial difficulties, said: "Let this cruelty end."

In prisons where the hunger strike launched against the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and rights violations in prisons, has entered day 132, the health conditions of the sick prisoners are getting worse as they get harder. Mustafa Geylani (52), who is being held in Elazığ High-Security Prison No 2, and Rahmi Geylani, who is being held in Istanbul Silivri L Type Closed Prison, are just two of these prisoners.

TWO SICK PRISONER SIBLINGS

Mustafa Geylani was delivered to Turkey on grounds that there was a warrant against him by the Georgian government. Geylani was first sentenced to death in the case where he was tried with the allegations of "disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state" and "being a member of a terrorist organization". After the abolition of the death penalty, Geylani's was sentenced to aggravated life in prison. Geylani, who was sent to different prisons during his detention, had an angiography due to the  heart disease. Geylani still suffers from heart disease.

Another brother, Rahmi Geylani, was detained with a raid on his house in Şemdinli district of Hakkari on 6 March 2018, and was arrested by the court with the allegation of "being a member of a terrorist organization". Rahmi Geylani, who was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison, took part in the hunger strike launched against the isolation on Öcalan in 2018. Geylani, who started to suffer from his kidneys, also suffers from rheumatism and diabetes.

Mother Safiye Geylani, who is miles away from her two sons, demands the freedom of her sick children.

SHE HAS NOT SEEN HER CHILDREN FOR YEARS

Drawing attention to the fact that her son Mustafa has been under arrest for 22 years, Safiye Geylani said, "My son has been in prison too long. How long will he stay inside? My son is sick, I want him released. Neither I nor his father had the strength to endure this. I also do not have the opportunity to visit my sons in prison. Release our sick sons."

Safiye Geylani, who wanted their children to be freed, said: "Let all mothers reunite with their children, let this cruelty end. I cannot go and see my sons anymore. My knees hurt, I don't have the strength to travel that far anymore. I cannot even go visit them for the last 2 years. One is in Elazığ and the other is in İstanbul. Their father has not been able to see his sons for 6 years because he is also sick."

CALL TO THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE

Calling the Ministry of Justice and state officials, Geylani said: "My children have diseases. Rahmi is in need of a surgery. We have been living without them for years. Now, this must end and our voices must be heard."
