ANKARA - Nursena Özyiğit, daughter of Hüseyin Galip Özyiğit whom no one has heard from for 100 days, said that the failure to take action caused some evidence to dissappear.
Family of Hüseyin Galip Özyiğit, who was reported to have been kidnapped and has not been heard from for the last 100 days, held a press conference at the Human Rights Association (İHD) building. Speaking first, Özyiğit's daughter, Nursena Özyiğit, stated that she last spoke to her father on the phone on December 29, 2020. Stating that his father would come to them the next day, Özyiğit said: "However, he did not come. When we called again later, his phone was off. We could not get any more news after that day. After that we tried to make them start the investigation but it has been 100 days today and no action has been taken. We could not find his car. There were a lot of contradictory statements. Failure to start the investigation and take action slowed down the process and causes some evidence to dissappear.
Giving information about the legal process, Adem Kaplan stated that they were called to the police station as a family and said: "When we went to the police station, the officials there said: 'We can only swim in the lake right now'. The subjects you are dealing with are the sea, the ocean. In other words, it has been confessed that Hüseyin Bey was kidnapped by some state officials, but it was being covered up to conceal thesubterraneous structuring within the state."
Pointing out to the violations of law that took place since July 15 military coup attempt Kaplan said: "People are arrested for no reason, they are slandered, detained and tortured. And at this point, unfortunately, an effective investigation cannot be carried out. Especially at this point, in the applications made to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), there are violation decisions that the court has already made."
"100 DAYS HAVE PASSED, NO INVESTIGATION WAS MADE"
Kaplan said that when they applied to the prosecutor's office for Özyiğit, they waited a long time for a prosecutor to be appointed to the case. Özyiğit stated that a prosecutor was appointed to the case, he requested some documents but we were stalled and no action has been taken despite the passing 100 days.
Kaplan concluded his words as follows: "We ask the public to put pressure on the state officials on social media. Anyone can be exposed to such tragedy.
