NEWS CENTER - The security operations that took place in Al-Hol camp in eastern Syria in the last 10 days resulted in the arrest of 125 mercenaries of ISIS cells in the camp.

 

During the last 10 days, Al-Hol camp, 45 km east of Al-Hasakah city, has witnessed security operations, aimed at ending the influence of ISIS and eliminating its cells in the camp, including large-scale security operations launched by the Internal Security Forces in north and east Syria on the 28th of March, in addition to qualitative operations for the Counter-Terrorism Units against ISIS mercenaries in the camp.

 

Large-scale security operations began during the first five days in Al-Hol camp through the "Humanity and Security" campaign launched by the Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria on the 28th of last March, and its first phase ended on the 2nd of April.

 

These operations resulted in inspecting the entire geography of the camp, including tents in its 8 sectors, excluding the foreign families of ISIS or what is known as the "immigrant" section, in which the participating forces managed to arrest 125 mercenaries, including 20 ISIS cell officials in the camp, and a number women.

 

The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria confirmed, through a press conference last Friday, April 2nd, that 125 mercenaries of ISIS cells were arrested in the camp, and that military equipment was found during the inspection campaign, in addition to electronic circuits used in preparing explosive devices.

 

Despite the end of the first phase of the humanitarian and security campaign, the operations of Counter-Terrorism Units (YAT) in targeting ISIS mercenaries and cells formed in the camp did not stop, due to their disappearance from sight, and after the security authorities obtained new information based on the confessions of mercenaries arrested in the "Humanity and Security" campaign.

 

During the last 5 days that followed the "Humanity and Security" campaign, the Counter-Terrorism units carried out more than 51 raids and searches of tents, and tracked down mercenaries involved in ISIS cells, after their names were mentioned in the ongoing investigations.

 

According to our correspondent, and quoting from commanders in YAT, the operations within the "first, second, third, fifth, and seventh" sectors resulted in the arrest of 33 mercenaries who had worked in ISIS cells inside Al-Hol camp, including 7 women.

 

During their operations, YAT arrested mercenaries who held important positions in ISIS cells, the most important of which are the first man of ISIS and the cell's official in the camp, Ahmed Khashe', known as "Abu Khaled", and the second man of ISIS, Qusay Mohammed, known as "Abu Kerar."

 

The nationalities of those arrested during those security operations over the past 10 days differed between Iraqis, Syrians, and one Algerian mercenary, perpetrators of killings and intimidation, promoters of ISIS ideology, women in the so-called Hisbah committees, and weapons transporters among cell members inside the camp.

 

In the mid of all these security operations being witnessed in the camp and which may be witnessed in the future, the Security Authorities in North and East Syria, as well as observers see that they are insufficient to limit the danger of this camp, which is considered one of the most dangerous camps in the world, given its detention of the Syrian, Iraqi and foreign families of ISIS."

 

The Internal Security Forces confirmed that the success of the campaign in its first phase and its provision of security in the camp will not last for long, due to the takfirist mentality of terrorism that is still active in the camp, especially towards children, which poses a threat to the whole world in the medium and long term.

 

Al-Hol camp in north and east Syria includes 60,351 people, distributed among 16,404 families, including Syrians, Iraqis and foreigners.
