MARDİN - In the search conducted in the houses and lands belonging to former rangers in Derik district of Mardin, many guns, pistols, shotguns and assault rifles and ammo belonging to Bixi brand guns were found which are all in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).
The lands and houses of some former rangers were raided by the soldiers on a tip from a family reported to have issues with the rangers in question on June 13. As a result of the search a large number of guns, bullets, assault vests, binoculars and magazines were found buried in the ground. 13 people were detained as a result of the investigation. 9 of them were released with judicial control measures after 10 days. The rest were arrested for 4 days and were released later as a result of the appeal made to the higher court.
ARE THOSE THE LOST GUNS?
The weapons in question are thought to be those that were distributed to the civillians to stop the coup attempt on July 15 2016. The guns distributed to the civillians were later got lost. The investigation launched into the incident is carried out with a "confidentiality order".
