URFA - Attorney of journalist Emrullah Acar, Ali Arslan said the Security Directorate is taking revenge on Acar because of his work as a journalist.
Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Emrullah Acar, who was detained during a house raid on his home early in the the morning in November 19 in Urfa, is being held in Malatya Security Directorate. Acar is being held there for the last four days. While Acar's statement was not taken for 4 days, Ali Arslan, one of Acar's lawyers, said that during their meeting with their client, they learned that an the police had a conversation with their client illegally. Arslan said, "We learned that the police asked about a person who was forced to spy on his friend, who made a statement about this in the İHD Malatya Branch. We think that our client was targeted for exposing this illegal practice of the police and that they have been prolonging the detention as a revenge."
In this meeting, we learned that the person named B.Ö., who made a press statement at the Malatya İHD Branch, was asked about whom the police imposed spying on. "We think that he is using the detention process as a means of punishment by procrastinating
