ANKARA - Speaking after the HDP MYK meeting, Mithat Sancar, calling for the government to resign, said, "If he does not resign, then all opposition parties should jointly prepare the election proposal and submit it to the Parliament."
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) convened extraordinarily under the chairmanship of Central Executive Board (MYK), Co-Chairs Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar.
Sancar, who held a press conference during the recess for the meeting, made a statement.
Stating that they called the MYK to a urgent meeting, Sancar said, “Our agenda is clear. We have evaluated the collapse that we have all been witnessing since yesterday. The country and the economy are collapsing. Not only the economy but also the social and political system is collapsing."
'THE REGIME AND ITS POLICIES ARE COLLAPSING'
Emphasizing that Turkey is facing a multidimensional crisis, Sancar said, “We have been talking about this for a long time. We are saying on every occasion that the main source of this multiple crisis is the policies of the government and the current system. For months and years, we have been warning that these days will come. We had meetings with workers, tradesmen and various segments of society. What we saw there was that the people were getting poorer day by day and the economy was heading towards a collapse day by day. When we say economic collapse, it is useful to express this clearly, what have collapsed is the system itself, is the one-man regime and its policies.
'LET'S SUBMIT THE PROPOSAL FOR AN ELECTION TO THE PARLIAMENT'
What is happening today is not a surprise. Its power is based on 3 basic elements: war, AKP supporters and rent. The resources that this government allocates to war, to AKP supporters and to rent causes the country collapse. These policies brought with them the economic collapse, but also the political collapse at the same time. We would like to remind you that we are facing a social crisis. The first thing to be done here is the immediate resignation of this government and an immediate election. If the government does not resign and the President does not make an election decision immediately, it falls upon to the opposition parties. Our call to the opposition parties in the parliament, let's immediately prepare the election bill together and present it to the Parliament. If the President does not make an election decision and does not resign, then the Parliament should step in. All opposition parties should jointly prepare the election proposal and submit it to the Parliament. "
