İSTANBUL - Mother of Ebru Muhikancı who was killed in a chemical attack said that the war can only end with communication with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Reactions against Turkey's use of chemical weapons in the operations it has been carrying out since April 23 in the Metîna, Avaşîn and Zap regions in the Federated Kurdistan Region continue. According to official statements made by PKK sources, at least 325 chemical attacks have been carried out with 5 types of chemical weapons in the last 6 months. Many non-governmental organizations and various institutions in the region and Europe appealed to the European Union (EU), the United Nations (UN) and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to take action against the use of chemical weapons.
CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY!
Since 1989, Turkey has been using chemical weapons in cross-border operations, which is a crime against humanity and a war crime in international law. Birgül Muhikancı, mother of Ebru Muhikancı, who was among the 36 HPG soldiers who lost their lives as a result of the attack with chemical weapons in the Kazan Valley of Hakkari on October 22, 2011, stated that chemical weapons is a crime against humanity.
Mother Muhikancı stated that her daughter could not tolerate injustice since her childhood and stated that she participated in the PKK in 2008. Muhikancı stated that 36 people, along with her daughter, lost their lives in Hakkari in 2011 as a result of chemical weapons used by the state, "In war, you fight hand to hand. There was not one bullet wound on our children. Their bodies were burned with chemicals. Their faces were unrecognizable. The families could not recognize their children. 15 people were buried in the cemetery of the nameless without an autopsy. Since she was detained before, her name was the first one to be announced. We took our funeral from the Malatya Prison morgue. We bought a ticket to go to Istanbul by plane, but they did not allow the flight, saying 'there is no room' on the plane because there was a guerrilla funeral. We brought her body by an ambulance."
'THEY ARE TRYING TO EXTERMINATE THE KURDS'
Expressing that civilians are targeted with chemical weapons, Muhikancı said, "No one deserves to die with chemicals. If there is war, you can die by guns or bombs, but the use of chemicals is a war crime. They also kill civilians with chemical weapons. They are trying to massacre everyone with chemical weapons. They are trying to exterminate the Kurds."
'SHE WAS TAKEN FROM HER CLASS IN HANDCUFFS'
Stating that her daughter was studying at Kars Kafkas University and could not tolerate injustice, Muhikancı stated that her daughter was detained because of a Kurdish magazine that was delivered to her name while she was at the university, and said: "They took her from her class in handcuffs. They told her that they were doing this so that everyone knew she was a terrorist. She was sent to prison and held there for 2 months for a magazine. They didn't give her peace after that. So she went for the mountains. The police and the state made my daughter chose that path."
AMBASSADOR OF PEACE
Expressing that everyone has the right to live freely in their country, Muhikancı said that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan is the greatest force in solving the Kurdish problem. Muhikancı said, “No mother wants to send her child to die. If there is a country where everyone can live freely, there will be no wars and no one will die. Everyone has the right to live in dignity and freedom. The Kurdish problem must be resolved at the table. The ambassador of peace is in Imrali. If they talk to Öcalan, this problem will be solved. This is how we can achieve peace in which both peoples can live in peace."
