İSTANBUL - The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe announced its decision regarding the application of non-governmental and legal organizations regarding the “Öcalan-2” decision.
The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which is responsible for overseeing the judgments and decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and meeting quarterly, convened in Strasbourg, France, on 30 November-2 December. Applications from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, France, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom were discussed at the meeting and the decisions were announced.
ONE YEAR TIME GIVEN TO TURKEY TO SEND INFORMATION
The Committee asked for information on the number of people who have been imprisoned and sentenced to life imprisonment, which cannot be reduced to the “Öcalan-2” decision in Turkey, and which cannot be examined. The Committee invited the authorities in Turkey to provide information on the progress made in the implementation of the general measures by the end of September 2022 at the latest.
