IZMIR - Evaluating Turkey's visits to Iraq and the Federated Kurdistan Region, Political Scientist Sinan Onal stated that the new attack plans will "hit the wall" due to the March 31 defeat and the economic crisis.
The March 31 elections, in which local administrators were determined, are over. AKP and its junior partner MHP suffered a huge loss of votes in local elections all over the country and lost many municipalities. President and AKP Chair Tayyip Erdogan, in his statement on the election night when his party suffered a major defeat, pointed out that attacks on the Federated Kurdistan Region and Northern and Eastern Syria will continue.
AKP officials made a series of visits to Iraq and the Federated Kurdistan Region before the election. New attacks were also signaled in the statements made about the meetings.
Political Scientist Sinan Onal evaluated AKP-MHP's new attack plans and the impact of the elections on this situation.
Stating that Turkey is pursuing "Ottoman dreams", Onal said: "Turkey wants to establish its hegemony in the Syria, Iraq and Kurdistan regions. It has such a utopia. Turkey wanted to take advantage of the contradictions and conflicts between NATO and Shanghai in recent years to achieve this. Although it is officially a member of NATO, it is acted as not a member of NATO.
'OCCUPATION' PLAN
Noting that Turkey's policies have not yielded results and that it is aiming for a new attack through diplomatic negotiations as a last resort, Onal pointed out that the place where new attacks will be carried out could be Garê. Onal continued as follows: "They want to gain sovereignty in Bashiqa and Mosul, which were previously occupied. To legitimize this, they are holding talks with Iran and Iraq. They are threatening Iraq with water and the gangs they have trained. By offering an alternative route to the Silk Road, they will provide oil and It is trying to obtain a visa for the occupation with the promise of making the gas flow through Turkey. In this context, there were meetings attended by military and intelligence officials from Turkey, Iraq and the Federated Kurdistan Region. Likewise, delegations from Iraq and Southern Kurdistan came to Ankara. These meetings took place on April 22. Media propaganda also creates the perception that there will be an operation in April. The White House meeting, for which they have been lobbying for years, will also take place on May 9. Here they will discuss how much they can occupy Southern Kurdistan and Northeast Syria."
'KDP MAY RECEIVE A RED CARD IN THE ELECTIONS'
Touching on KDP's relations with Turkey, Onal said that KDP's relations with Turkey is against the Iraqi Constitution. Pointing out that the KDP does not want to enter the elections to be held in the Federated Kurdistan Region, Onal said: "If it enters, there is a possibility that the people in Turkey will see the red card shown to the AKP in the March 31 elections. Especially in the eyes of the Kurds and the citizens in Iraq, it was completely exposed. The people are against this cooperation."
'IT WILL HIT THE WALL'
Pointing out that AKP policies have brought Turkey to a point of no return, Onal said: "It is not possible for this security doctrine to continue after March 31. However, considering that the majority of the judiciary and the parliament are in its hands, that the European Union is silenced in exchange for immigration and interest, and that the USA has policies of blocking Russia, Iran and China, it will try all means for the operation. But we have learned this; Turkey The society does not want the security doctrine. The attitude of the social opposition is important here. The 31 March local elections were like a 'No to war' referendum. Erdogan lost his legitimacy in the society in the 31 March elections. A government that has lost its legitimacy is at war. How long will it be able to insist on its policy? Even what happened in Wan shows that the job of Erdogan and his friends will not be easy. Turkey and the Kurdistan opposition have agreed on the right to be elected. The invasion he wants to carry out will also hit a wall like this."
'PEOPLE CAN DEFEND ATTACKS'
Onal said that the attitude of the Kurds will be decisive in this process and said: "Any democratic stance of the people is capable of facing the invasion attack. This people, who took a step back from the security policy and doctrine, also has the power and foresight to stop the occupation."
