NEWS CENTER - “Öcalan is the symbol of the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom and his freedom is a symbol for all oppressed peoples,” said Argentine Workers' Party MP Vanina Biasi.

The isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali Type F High Security Prison has been going on for 26 years. On October 23, Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held incommunicado for 43 months, had a meeting with his nephew Ömer Öcalan, who is also the Riha (Urfa) MP of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party. After the meeting, which was the result of the international struggle against isolation, the ban on family visits was once again imposed.
Argentine Worker's Party MP Vanina Biaisi, one of the signatories of the “Freedom Campaign” launched in Argentina for the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, made evaluations to Mezopotamya Agency.

'WE ARE IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE KURDS'

Emphasizing that the Workers' Party is in solidarity with the Kurdish people, Vanina Biasi stated that in 2018 they organized a march to the Turkish Embassy in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, and condemned Turkey's crimes against the Kurds. Vanina Biasi noted that after this process, the Kurdish women's movement contacted them and they held meetings together and expressed their rejection of the persecution of Abdullah Öcalan.

SYMBOL FOR ALL PEOPLES

Expressing their rejection of the systematic isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Vanina Biasi said: “We reject the prevention of Abdullah Öcalan from exercising his ‘right to hope’. The ‘right to hope’ does not depend on the approval or permission of any state. We defend Öcalan's physical freedom because his imprisonment is both unjust, inhumane and a clear political persecution. Öcalan is the symbol of the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom and his freedom is a symbol not only for the Kurdish people but for all oppressed peoples.”

POLICIES AGAINST THE KURDS

Vanina Biasi drew attention to the oppression of the Kurds and said: “The long imprisonment of Öcalan, the arrest of other Kurdish politicians and the appointment of trustees to Kurdish municipalities are the oppression of the Turkish state and Erdoğan. These practices are indicative of a reactionary and repressive policy, this regime denies the national demands of the Kurdish people and systematically oppresses the working class. We strongly condemn all these policies of oppression and persecution.”

Vanina Biasi stated that the ban on family and lawyer visits to PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan means the denial of democratic rights, emphasizing that this situation is unacceptable and said: “This practice against Öcalan is a crime against the people's struggle for freedom.”

THE SOLUTION POWER OF ABDULLAH ÖCALAN

Vanina Biasi stated that the attacks aim to demoralize the struggle of the Kurdish people, but said that the struggle for freedom will only get stronger. Vanina Biasi stated that Abdullah Öcalan has put forward a solution to the Kurdish issue and that this solution proposal and the rights and demands of the Kurds must be recognized.
