VAN - In the indictment prepared against journalist Oktay Candemir with the allegation of "propagandazing for a terrorist organization", the slogans in the footage shot 16 years ago were considered as evidence of a crime.
An indictment was prepared against journalist Oktay Candemir, who was detained and released many times in Van, with the allegation of "propagandazing for a terrorist organization." In the 4-page indictment accepted by the 5th High Criminal Court of Van, videos and photos in the digital materials seized in the raid on Candemir's house on April 5, 2019, and some posts in his social media account were considered to be evidences of a crime.
In the indictment, it was stated that there were PKK flags and a framed photo of a person who is considered to be a "member of terrorist organization" in 4 posts on Candemir's Facebook account between 2014-2015. In the indictment, the news footage shot by Candemir at the Democratic Society Party's (DTP) meetings and demonstrations in Ağrı, Kars and Iğdır provinces between 2005 and 2009 was the subject of accusation.
In the indictment, which also includes the prosecutor's statement that Candemir was tried and acquitted due to the same posts before, mentioned: "Although the suspect declared that he was tried in Van 5th High Criminal Court regarding the same posts ,it was determined that the said posts he was tried in Van 5th High Criminal Court and the posts subject to our file are not the same."
The first hearing of the trial against Candemir will be held on June 17.
