VAN - A citizen singing in Kurdish in Van was first beaten by the police, then handcuffed on the back and detained.
A citizen singing in Kurdish on the Old State Hospital Street in largely South East Kurdish city Van was stopped by the police for a General Information Scan (GBT). The citizen, who refuse to give his ID, was beaten and taken into custody. Shopkeepers who reacted to the situation were also detained.
In the footage taken by the citizens in the vicinity, it was seen that the police handcuffed the citizen from behind, battering him for minutes.
The citizens who sang in Kurdish and the shopkeepers who were detained on the grounds that they reacted to police violence, were taken to the Van Provincial Security Directorate.
