Peace Mother: Everyone will have justice when there is justice in İmralı

ISTANBUL - Drawing attention to the importance of the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Feleknas Kabataş from the Peace Mothers Council said, "Everyone will have justice when there is justice in İmralı."

There has been no news for nearly 16 months from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under severe isolation conditions in İmralı Type F High Security Prison. Not being able to hear from Öcalan causes concerns, while applications from lawyers, families and his legal guardian are either not answered or are blocked by disciplinary "punishment" decisions.

Criticising the incommunicado situation, Feleknas Kabataş and Gülsüm Dağ from the Peace Mothers Council, , drew attention to the importance of Öcalan's freedom.

ISOLATION MUST BE REMOVED

Stating that the isolation on Öcalan should be lifted, Feleknas Karabaş from the Peace Mothers Council stated that Kurds, like all peoples in the world, want to rule themselves. “We want to have a will. We no longer want to be detained and arrested. We do not want to be killed," said Karabaş, adding that the reason for the increasing pressure in the prison is the isolation from Imrali.

Stating that they are trying to silence Öcalan, Karabaş said, "Everything depends on Abdullah Öcalan. If justice comes to Imrali, everyone will have justice. We didn't kill anyone. The state does this. They are killing us and torturing us” and demanded an end to the oppression.

'WE DO NOT ACCEPT'

Gülsüm Dağ from the Peace Mothers Council emphasized that the isolation is getting worse and said, “We do not accept this isolation. We do not accept this isolation on Abdullah Öcalan, nor on other prisoners. They are sentencing our people to 30-40 years in prison. We say enough is enough. We will fight as long as we are alive."

PROBLEMS WILL BE SOLVED IF ISOLATION ENDS

Stating that all problems will be resolved if Öcalan is free, Dağ said, “If the isolation is lifted, the crisis in Turkey will also come to an end. If Öcalan is free, peace will come to the world. If the isolation is lifted, justice will come, there will be a solution. It will be good for everyone when the isolation is lifted. This tyranny can only end with the removal of the isolation. Everyone should stand up against it."
