DİYARBAKIR - Making a statement of support for women's struggle against the occupation and war in Afghanistan, TJA said: "We announce that we will be the voice of Afghan women and raise this voice."

The Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) issued a written statement in solidarity with Afghan women resisting the Taliban. Reminding that it has been one year since the Taliban took over the Afghan Government on August 15, 2021, it was stated that within this year, the fear of war, hunger, poverty and violence had gripped the country, and the world's states were content to watch this persecution.

THE DIFFICULTIES FOR WOMEN

Addressing the difficulties faced by women in this process, the statement said: “The Taliban, which started in the 1990s and was secretly supported by the USA, declared sharia and targeted the Afghan people, primarily women and girls. The Taliban regime, which waged war against its own people for 20 years; imprisoned women here, denied the right of women and girls to receive education and participate in politics. It made it difficult for women to access health services, and women who spoke and laughed in public were punished. Women were stoned and executed for not acting in accordance with the sharia. Girls who wanted to go to school were burned with nitric acid."

Emphasizing that women in Afghanistan have not only defended their rights for years, but also fought against fundamentalism, occupation and war, the statement said, "For the last year, they have been fighting against all states and systems of the world. They are shouting that every state that follows and condones this persecution is a partner of the Taliban regime. The struggle, which started by expanding the organization against this brutal regime led by four resistance women. Afghan women are calling on Afghan men and women of the world to increase their struggle against hypocritical autocrats. Afghan women, who have been organizing in the streets and at home for a year, have been the target of the Taliban regime. While the society was broken by hunger and poverty, women who escalated the struggle were subjected to detention, torture and violence. They were forced into exile, war and emigration.

"WE KNOW THIS REGIME"

In the statement, TJA said: “It describes how the people of Afghanistan have been condemned to war and persecution for 30 years. They no longer have a call to the states! The fact that the international community and the United Nations have remained silent about the persecution of the Taliban this year shows that they are as partners in this crime as the Taliban. Afghan women are calling out to the women of the world and they want us to be their voices and grow their struggle for justice. As Kurdish women, we are fighting against the authoritarian and totalitarian regimes' policies of war and violence that have been going on for 40 years. We are exiled, killed, thrown into prisons. We know this regime, so we announce that we will be the voice of Afghan women and raise this voice for all women."
