İSTANBUL - A decision has been made in the case where the lawyers of ÇHD and HHB were tried. It was decided to continue the detention of Selçuk Kozağaçlı and Barkın Timtik, who were sentenced to 12 years each.
The final hearing of the case where the lawyers of the ÇHD and the People's Law Office (HHB), including the Contemporary Lawyers Association (ÇHD) President Selçuk Kozağaçlı, Barkın Timtik and Oya Asla, were tried, was held at the Istanbul 18th High Criminal Court. The court board announced that it would not listen to the remaining 5 lawyers, that all lawyers would be deemed to have made a defense and that the last words would be taken. The hearing was adjourned for 15 minutes.
After the break, the defense lawyers objected to this. The appeal was accepted and the gendarmes in the courtroom were taken out. Taking the floor, Attorney Murat Yılmaz demanded his acquittal and said: "Since there is no single tangible evidence regarding Selcuk Kozağaçlı, there is not even a claim against him in the indictment, they only demand punishment."
12 YEARS PRISON SENTENCE FOR KOZAĞAÇLI AND TİMTİK
After the defense of the lawyers, the court decided. Güray Dağ, Efkan Bolaç, Serhan Arıkanoğlu and Sevgi Özer Sönmez were sentenced to 6 years and 3 months for “membership in a terrorist organization”. Gülbin Aydın was given 6 years and 3 months for “being a member in an organisation”. Aydın was also punished for "propagandising for a terrorist organisation" and it was decided to Delay the Announcement of the Judgment (HAGB). The court sentenced Nazan Betül Vangölü Kozağaçlı and Güçlü Zengin to 6 years and 3 months for "being a member in a terrorist organisation", and sentenced Oya Aslan to 10 years and 6 months for "being a member in a terrorist organisation" and continued her detention. Barkın Timtik and Selçuk Kozağaçlı were each sentenced to 12 years for "being a member in a terrorist organisation". The court also decided to continue their arrest.
