Nagihan Akarsel, a member of Jineology Research Center, journalist and academic, was commemorated at the place where she was murdered in Slemani. Besides the members of the Kurdistan Free Women's Movement (RJAK), many people attended the commemoration. Candles were lit in the place where Akarsel was murdered.
THE AIM IS FREEDOM
Speaking at the commemoration, RJAK's Sara Reza said, “We commemorate Nagihan Akarsel at a time when women are fighting against the male-dominated mentality all over the world. This anti-women mentality does not want women to be liberated. For this reason, women have now set freedom as a goal. The women's struggle has become the dominant struggle not only in Northern Kurdistan, but also in Eastern Kurdistan and Rojava. Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan showed the perspective of women's freedom to women all over the world with the slogan of 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadî'. This slogan has spread all over the world. Martyr Nagihan Akarsel also struggled to bring together the work of women from Kurdistan. The martyrdom of Nagihan will not stop our struggle. We promise our martyrs to continue our struggle."
