Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA) Spokesperson Ayşe, who was sentenced to 12 years, 7 years and 6 months for "being a member in a terrorist organisation", 7 years and 6 months for "aiding a terrorist organisation" and 3 years for "propagandising for a terrorist organisation" by the Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court the first hearing of Gökkan's case was held after the Supreme Court overturned the sentence for "aiding a terrorist organization". Gökkan, who was on trial at the Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court, and his lawyers Özüm Vurgun, Berfin Gökkan and Gözde Engin were present at the hearing. TJA, Rosa Women's Association, Human Rights Association (İHD), Lawyers' Association for Freedom (ÖHD), Diyarbakır Bar Association, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Amed Provincial Co-Chair Gülistan Atasoy and Zeyyat Ceylan and representatives of non-governmental organisations followed the hearing.
'I REJECT YOUR COURT'
Defending in Kurdish was translated into Turkish through a translator, Gökkan said: "My lawyers were expelled from the hearing by police force at the last hearing. I reject your court due to the approach towards me and my lawyer at the last hearing. I do not know the delegation that did not know me and my lawyers. My defense here is based on the essence of the slogan "Jin, jiyan, azadi" that has spread to the whole world."
'THE TURKISH COURT IS NOT IMPARTIAL'
Expressing their doubt that the court will make a fair trial and describing what happened in the last hearing as "disgraceful" Gökkan said: "We will not make a defense because we are suspicious of the court decisions. The Turkish court is not impartial. We have applied to the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights due to the approaches displayed.”

The court emptied the hall to evaluate the refusal of Gökkan and his lawyers. Meanwhile, Gökkan, who was taken to the waiting room, made a victory sign by shouting the slogan "Jin jiyan azadi".
After the break, the court rejected the judge's request and postponed the hearing to January 18.
