KCK Executive Council Member Emine Kara (Evin Goyi), Mîr Perwer (Mehmet Şirin Aydın) and Abdurrahman Kızıl lost their lives in the armed attack on the Kurdish Cultural Center in Strasbourg Saint Denis Neighborhood in Paris, the capital of France. Immediately after the attack, the police surrounded the association and did not allow anyone to enter the area. The attacker was later caught by the citizens in the barber shop while also attacking a Kurdish restaurant and barber shop; however, the French police caught the perpetrator himself, hours later, and announced the name of the attacker as William M. The police stated that the attacker admitted that he was racist in his statement.
THE MAIN TARGET IS EMİNE KARA
While it is noteworthy that the attacker opened fire on the head of KCK Executive Council Member Emine Kara at close range and checked whether Kara lost her life, it is stated that the main target here is Kara. The prosecutor's investigation of the incident as a "judicial case" also brought to mind the investigation of the Paris Massacre in January 2013.

Immediately after the attack, there was a great reaction from the world public opinion. Gerald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior of France, who came to the scene after the attack, stated that the attacker had been paroled from prison a short time ago and said: “The person was released from prison a short time ago; however, we are now investigating how he was evacuated. This person is a criminal recognized by the French courts. The attacker had no ties to any political party. We have no evidence of any political affiliation. However, we know that he is right-wing and has been involved in many right-wing organizations before; however, we do not want to blame any right-wing organization for this. We don't know exactly whether this attack is aimed specifically at Kurds or foreigners." French President Emmanuel Macron said he condemned the "treacherous attack" on the Kurds.
STATEMENT FROM KCK
The KCK Executive Council Co-Presidency announced that Evîn (Emine Kara) is a KCK Executive Council Member. The KCK stated that the massacre in Paris was a continuation of the January 9 Massacre and that the attack was planned by the AKP-MHP government and the MIT, and emphasized that if France did not want to be implicated, it should enlighten the massacre.
Stating that the attack was planned in Ankara, KCK Executive Council Member Zübeyir Aydar said: "It doesn't matter who you are. This attack is similar to how our friends Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez were murdered 10 years ago. The Turkish state is nationalizing the problem. The Turkish state is carrying the attacks in Rojava into Europe."
KCDK-E CALLS TO THE STREETS
After the massacre, the European Kurdistan Democratic Societies Congress (KCDK-E) made a statement. Addressing all Kurds in France, the statement said: "We call on our people and friends in other European countries to come together in front of the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Center in Paris and take action to condemn the massacre in their cities."
ATTACK FROM FRANCE POLICE
Hundreds of citizens gathered in front of the Cultural Center, following the calls, were attacked by the French police with tear gas and truncheons. Many activists were injured by gas bombs thrown from close range. Activists responded to the French police with stones. It was stated that the police were also injured by the stones thrown. Paris Police, in a statement on the subject, announced that the events were the result of provocation.
The police also attacked the crowd gathered to protest the massacre in Marseille. On December 24, tens of thousands of citizens from many European cities organized a march from the Cultural Center where the massacre took place. Many citizens were injured while the French police attacked the crowd who wanted to get in front of the cultural center with tear gas. Despite the attacks, the citizens, who were in front of the cultural center, started a sit-in here.
REACTION FROM FRANCH POLITICIANS
Attending the mass commemoration in Paris, Paris MP Sylvain Maillar said: "I am here to express that the President of France, the Minister of the Interior and the Prime Minister are taking action to reveal the truth. I want to make a promise to you, we need to learn the truth."
Mayor of Paris, Alexandra Cordebard, said: "Paris is the land of the Kurds. This has been the case for decades. We lost 3 people in this attack, like the 3 female revolutionaries we honored on La Fayette street 10 years ago. I share the Kurdish people's pain. The Kurdish people value our values. We know the price the Kurds have paid to defend us, we express our gratitude, admiration and anger here today. I want to say here, we will continue to defend democracy."
Paris Bar Association Deputy President Vincent Nioré said: "I am here to convey the solidarity messages of the Paris lawyers and the president of the bar. Yesterday's murder is not just a racist murder, it is a planned and organized attack, it is a terrorist attack." President Fabien Russell said: "Today, I want to express that our hearts are bleeding. Our hearts are bleeding, because the Kurdish people were shot once again in Paris, a historical city of revolution. We do not accept this."
Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of the French Main Opposition Party NUPPES, said: "Those who were killed yesterday were political militants. I commemorate their commitment to our common struggle. our comrade Evin was among them, the head of Kurdish women in France and the hero of the war against ISIS, and she was wounded at the front. We bow down to her memory."
MASS DEMONSTIONS IN EUROPE AND KURDISTAN
Following the calls, statements and marches condemning the massacre were held all over Europe and Kurdistan. There are ten cities in Geneva, Zurich, Basel, Locarno, St Gallen, Solthurn, Lucerne, Germany, Stuttgart, Hanover, Stockholm, Sweden, Athens, Austria, Tyrol, France, Paris, Bordeaux and Grenoble, Switzerland. Thousands of citizens protested the massacre. During the marches, slogans such as "Bijî Serok Apo(Long live Serok Apo)", "Bijî Berxwedana Paris(Long live the struggle in Paris)", "Şehit Namirin(Martyries can not die)" were shouted frequently.
Protest actions were held in many cities, especially in Northern and Eastern Syrian cities of Qamishlo, Ehdas, Kobanê, Tıl Koçer and Amude in the Shehba Canton, as well as in Aleppo, Makhmur Refugee Camp and Diyarbakır. In the statements, it was stated that these massacres did not and will not break the resistance of the Kurds, and stated that the AKP-MHP government is now at its last turning point.
JUDICIAL INVESTIGATION
After the incident, the French press announced that the attacker was charged with "attempted murder" twice, for attacking a refugee camp in Paris with a sword on December 8, 2021 and wounding two people. It was stated that the attacker was released from prison on December 12 on condition of judicial control, and that there was a "ban on carrying weapons". Despite all these explanations and reactions, the Paris Prosecutor's Office launched a "judicial incident" investigation on the charge of "racist murders and attempted murder". The prosecutor's office announced that it first extended the detention period of the attacker for another 24 hours and then lifted the detention order for health reasons. In a statement regarding the situation, the prosecutor's office stated that the attacker was taken to the Paris Police Department Psychiatric Hospital and that an investigation is being carried out regarding the incident; however, after the reactions of the world public opinion, it was decided that the attacker is suitable for detention in the clinic affiliated to the police and he was detained again; however, the statements of the French Interior Minister that the incident was an organized attack and that the incident did not specifically target the Kurds led to doubts about the next phase of the case.
THIS ATTACK RESEMBLES THE ATTACK INTO 2013
The developments and the statements from the French authorities brought to mind the attack on the Kurdish Information Bureau on January 9, 2013 in Paris. In that attack, Kurdish women politicians Sakine Cansız, Fidan Dogan and Leyla Şaylemez were murdered by a hitman named Ömer Güney; however, after the massacre, an investigation file was opened against Ömer Güney on the charge of "murder" in 2013. The investigation into the 2013 assassination was completed in May 2015. But the litigation stage could not be reached. While the case was planned to be heard on January 23, 2017 on the charge of "assassination related to a terrorist organization", Güney was pronounced dead on December 17, 2016.
GÜNEY-MIT LINKS
The Paris Prosecutor's Office did not insist on the documents that Güney requested from Turkey regarding his travels to Turkey 20 days before the massacre. While the new complaint filed by the families in 2018 and many documents attached to the petition point to the possible role of MIT in the murders, it is seen that Güney often traveled to Turkey before the massacre.
THE INCIDENT WAS COVERED UP
In addition, the audio recording of Güney's conversations with his visitors while he was in Fresnes prison revealed that he had close relations with MIT spies in Germany and Belgium. Raids by the German police prevented his kidnapping plan at the last moment with the logistical support of the MIT during one of Ömer Güney's treatment sessions at the Salpetriere hospital. Despite the findings in Germany and Belgium, no steps were taken to illuminate the background of the event.
