MARAŞ - Mehmet Gonluşen said that despite the 19th day of the earthquake, the problem of tents and food continues in the Yavuz Selim Neighborhood of Maraş, where Kurds live, and that 30 people are staying in a tent.

Despite the 19th day of the earthquake that occurred on February 6 in Maraş Elbistan and Pazarcık, the tent and basic needs of the earthquake victims still have not been met. The government, which left the people to their fate by not starting search and rescue efforts from the first moment, responded to the people's reactions of "There is no state, where is the state" with insults and threats.

Even though AKP President Tayyip Erdoğan, who made a statement in the AFAD tents in the earthquake region he visited and promised "10 thousand liras to be given to the earthquake victims". There are districts, neighborhoods and villages where tents and food aid have not yet reached. Despite the 19th day of the earthquake, many families are still trying to live in makeshift barracks in the Yavuz Selim Neighborhood of Maraş, where the majority of Kurds live.

Earthquake victims living in the neighborhood stated that they were discriminated against because they were Kurds.

THERE IS STILL NO TENT AND NO FOOD

Stating that they took the children outside with their lives on the morning of the earthquake, Gökhan Gül said: "Since the weather was cold and rainy, I went back to the house to buy a few things for the children, and in the meantime I was caught in the second earthquake. I brought a top head to the children. Otherwise we would freeze. People are completely victimized right now. Although days have passed since the earthquake, there are still no state officials in the neighborhood. People have to keep their homes safe. They still cannot find tents and food.”

'SINCE WE ARE KURDISH, STATE DOESN'T HELP US'

Even though 18 days have passed since the earthquake, no official has visited us yet. Nobody comes to us because we are Kurds. The reason is that we are Kurds. Right now we need firewood and coal. We are cold and miserable. 10 people stay in a small tent. We even pulled the electricity with our own means. I bought a cable for 800 TL to draw electricity.”

ONE TENT FOR 30 PEOPLE

Referring to the neighborhood headman's attitude after the earthquake, Gölüşen said: “The headman first distributed the aid to his relatives and surroundings. He didn't give it to us. After 6 days, the military gave a tent to the population of 30. Is this justice?".
