AMED - The second hearing of the case in which the detained Amed Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Selçuk Mızraklı is being tried again will be held tomorrow.
Selçuk Mızraklı, who was elected as the Co-Mayor of Amed(Diyarbakır) Metropolitan Municipality (DBB) with 62.93 percent of the votes in the Local Elections of March 31, 2019, has been detained since October 22, 2019. A trustee was appointed on August 19, 2019, by the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to replace Mızraklı, who was arrested on the allegation of "being a member of a terrorist organization" due to the statements of confessor Hicran Berna Ayverdi, the actions and events he participated in, and the work of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK).
As a result of the 5-month trial, the prison sentence of 9 years, 4 months and 15 days given to Mızraklı was overturned by the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Appeals.
'IT IS A CONSPIRACY CASE'
Mızraklı, who made his defense at the first hearing held on June 15 at the Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court, where the retrial was held, said: "I have been detained for 4 years based on the statements of a slanderer. I believe that you, as the court panel, are capable of distinguishing between truth and lies. This situation cannot be explained by law. This is a conspiracy case."
The second hearing of the case in which Mızraklı is being tried again will be held tomorrow (September 11) at Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court.
