NEWS CENTER - 37 people were detained today following the attack on the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The number of people detained in 3 days increased to 112.
Following the attack on the General Directorate of Security located in the Ministry of Internal Affairs campus on September 1, the detention operation continued against people, including politicians and representatives of non-governmental organizations. On October 2, at least 20 people, including the executives of the People's Democratic Congress (HDK), the People's Democratic Party (HDP) and non-governmental organizations, were detained in Istanbul and Kırklareli. Those detained are being held at the Istanbul Provincial Police Department. Statements are expected to be taken today.
Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya announced that 55 people were detained in operations carried out in 16 provinces yesterday. It was announced that the operation was centered in Riha(Urfa) and included Mêrdin, Amed(Diyarbakır), Dîlok(Gaziantep), Mersin, Şirnex(Şırnak), Istanbul, Bursa, Êlih(Batman), Denizli, Adana, Kayseri, Antalya, Konya, Isparta and Kocaeli. It was noteworthy that most of the prisoners in question consisted of refugees.
Yerlikaya announced that 37 people were detained in 15 provinces today. It was reported that the detentions took place in Istanbul, Wan, Riha, Elezîz, Düzce, Amed, Bursa, Edirne, Kırklareli, Kilis, Îdir, Hatay, Adana, Mereş and Denizli.
It was learned that many Syrians were detained in the raids carried out in Edene within the scope of the said operation. It was noted that Özgür Cihangir was also detained on the grounds of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization", citing his social media posts.
Thus, the number of prisoners in the operations carried out after the attack in Ankara increased to 112.
