AMED -Students, who are members of Dicle Free Student Solidarity stated that the government was responsible for driving Resul Alan to suicide at Eskişehir Anadolu University and said: "We will hold the murderers accountable."
Students who are members of Dicle Free Student Solidarity made a press statement in front of Dicle University Center Dining Hall regarding Resul Alan, who was studying at Eskişehir Anadolu University, being driven to suicide. In the statement, which was supported by many students, the banner "Young people defend freedom against the system that obliges death" was opened, while the banners "The struggle from Anatolia to the Tigris continues" was carried.
'PRESSURE AND DENIAL POLICIES'
Making a statement, Berdan Gündüz, a member of Dicle Özgür Student Solidarity, expressed his condolences to the family and loved ones of Resul Alan, a student of Eskişehir Anadolu University Mathematics Teaching Department, who was driven to suicide, Gündüz said: “This system, which deprives young people of their identity, corrupts them, impoverishes them and leaves them dependent on themselves, promises nothing but death to the youth. As Resul stated in his letter, in these aggravated murders that appear to be suicides, the system's failure to grant the youth the right to a free and equal life with their own identity became the reason for suicide. These policies of oppression and denial have continued to increase in recent years and are most evident in universities."
'THE MAIN RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATHS IS AKP-MHP'
Drawing attention that universities have turned into areas of domination over young people, Gündüz said: “Especially Kurdish students lose their power to hold on to life and struggle in these areas because they cannot find anything of their own identity in universities and do not promise the future they want. In other words, universities, which are supposed to be centers of science and democracy and hope for the youth, have today become the areas where the government most clearly exercises its domination, imposes harassment policies and isolates young people from life. The main responsible for these deaths is the AKP-MHP government."
'WE WILL CALL THE MURDERERS TO ACCOUNT'
Stating that the government, which turned universities into police stations and centers of corruption with its fascist policies, is imposing death on the youth, Gündüz said and continued: "While universities should provide scientific and free education in the mother tongue, universities have become a center of assimilation and standardization. In his letter, Resul wrote the last two sentences from his own words, in his own language, in Kurdish: "Li xwe bas binerin(Take care of yourself)." He wrote it as bi xatirâ we(Farewell)', and even at the end of his life, he showed the devotion of Kurdish youth to his own essence, despite everything. "We say to Resul in our own language, 'em te ji bir nakin(We will not forget you)' and we promise that we will call his murderers to account."
The statement ended with the slogan "Do not be silent, as long as you remain silent, your turn will come."
