WAN - Journalist Sıddık Güler was arrested after the Supreme Court approved the local court's sentence of 2 years, 4 months and 3 days in prison for "terrorism propaganda".
The Supreme Court of Appeals approved the prison sentence of 2 years, 4 months, 3 days given to journalist Sıddık Güler on January 24, 2018 by the Van 2nd High Criminal Court on the charge of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization".
THE SUPREME COURT APPROVED THE DECISION
The application made to the Erzurum Regional Court of Justice against the local court decision was rejected. The file was moved to the Supreme Court for appeal. The Supreme Court said: "In the face of understanding that the defendant committed the crime of making propaganda; It is understood that the conscientious opinion about the defendant is based on precise, consistent and non-contradictory data, that the action is described as correct and complies with the type of crime foreseen in the law, and that the sanction is applied by personalizing it within the legal context, so there is no unlawfulness in the verdict."
GÜLER WAS TRANSFERRED TO PRISON
After the decision was approved, Güler went to the Van Courthouse with his lawyer and was arrested and transferred to prison after the decision was read to his face.
