AMED - Yılmaz Yakut, one of the distributors of Özgür Gündem newspaper, whom Apê Musa called "My Little Generals", in the 1990s, was commemorated at his grave on the anniversary of his death.
Yılmaz Yakut (Kalo), one of the distributors of the free press newspapers, whom Musa Anter (Apê Musa) called "My Little Generals", was commemorated at his grave in Yeniköy Cemetery in Bağlar (Rezan) district of Amed on his death anniversary.
In addition to Yakut's family and journalist friends, Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) Co-President Serdar Altan and Hakkı Boltan from DFG Management also attended the commemoration of Yakut. DFG Co-chair Serdar Altan, who made a short speech after the carnations were laid on Yakut's grave, said: "I think there is no one in Amed who does not know him. He fought successfully in the Özgür Basın for years. I can say that we lost him too early. He always carried out a unique struggle. He carried out this struggle with great success. We owe this struggle to him and our friends who were martyred in his path. We must also carry out this struggle properly”
Kalo, one of the newspaper distributors whom Apê Musa (Musa Anter) described as "My Little Generals", started distributing newspapers with Özgür Gündem when he was only 14 years old. He continued his work in the newspapers Özgür Ülke, Yeni Politika, Demokrasi, Ülkede Gündem, Özgür Bakış, Yeni Gündem, Yeniden Özgür Gündem, Welat and Ülkede Özgür Gündem until 2010. Kalo, who did not step back despite being injured in the attacks organized by JITEM and Hizbulkontra during his work, succumbed to colon cancer on January 16, 2022, at the age of 46.
