GARÊ IS THE TARGET

 

Stating that Turkey attacked every part of the Federated Kurdistan Region, Germiyani said that the attacks continued in an area 40 kilometers deep. Germiyani pointed out that civilians are targeted in the attacks and stated that 600 villages were in danger due to Turkey's attacks.

 

Germiyani said: "According to the statistics of some organizations that monitor Turkey's bombings and attacks, more than 800 attacks were carried out in Southern Kurdistan this year. However, according to the data obtained from the field, we can say that more than a thousand took place. Hundreds of villages have been completely evacuated since 2015, and more than 600 villages are currently at risk of evacuation. Turkey also carried out a large-scale air attack on Garê at the beginning of April. The aim was to force the local people to leave their land by evacuating the villages around the mountain. It wanted to open a new door for attacks. The possibility of an attack on Garê again in the coming periods is very high."

Noting that the livelihoods of the residents of the region were destroyed due to the attacks, "Iraq did not and does not take a stand despite all these attacks. People living in these regions are victimized. They have abandoned their homes and cannot return to their lands. They cannot do agriculture and animal husbandry. Despite Turkey's ongoing attacks since 2015, neither the Iraqi government nor the Hewlêr government has shown any reaction. KDP is establishing military bases in the regions attacked by Turkey. Turkish soldiers carry out attacks wearing Peshmerga uniforms. KDP has monopolized all power. We see that KDP surrendered its bases to Turkey. Everyone sees that KDP opens new roads and provides logistical support to Turkey" Germiyani said.
