NEWS CENTER – As part of the Democratic Society Meetings launched in response to Abdullah Ocalan’s “Call for Peace and Democratic Society”, the Democratic Institutions Platform will continue organizing festivals, rallies, and marches in 12 more cities across Turkey and Kurdistan.

The campaign initially started in Cizîr and expanded to Tetwan (Tatvan), Dêp (Karakoçan), and Bazîd (Dogubeyazıt). Speaking to Mezopotamya Agency (MA) Narin Gezgor, Deputy Co-chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) responsible for organization, stated that over 2 thousand meetings have already taken place and that the events will continue. She emphasized the leading role of women in the process and attributed this participation to Abdullah Ocalan’s woman-centered political philosophy.

Narin Gezgor highlighted that Ocalan’s call placed women and youth at its core: “The building and socialization of this process are deeply linked to women’s involvement. Women embraced the peace and solution initiative and declared their will to carry it forward.”

50 WORKSHOPS IN 15 CITIES

Narin Gezgor stressed that the DBP Women’s Assembly held 50 workshops in 15 cities, focusing on the ideology of women’s liberation: “Thousands of women joined these workshops. We organized them with the understanding that the foundation of peace is women, and that social freedom is only possible through women’s freedom.”

Narin Gezgor said that these workshops aim to analyse how historical forms of subjugation can be overcome through the ideology of women’s liberation, which is central to democratic society according to Ocalan’s paradigm.  “This is about more than women; it’s about transforming society through women’s freedom,” she said.

PEOPLE DEMAND FESTIVALS AND RALLIES

Narin Gezgor stated that the meetings have sparked significant enthusiasm: “People themselves asked for public celebrations to greet this process. We responded by planning festivals and rallies in 17 centres.”

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

Narin Gezgor invited people from all backgrounds, especially women and youth, to join the events: “This is not just a call for the Kurdish people, it’s a democratic call for all peoples of Turkey. Let us welcome and strengthen the democratic society being built.”
