AMED - Ahmet Temiz, whose release was postponed twice by the decision of the Prison Administration and Observation Board, was released from prison after 31 years of imprisonment and received an enthusiastic welcome in his hometown Amed (Diyarbakır).
Ahmet Temiz, a 31-year prisoner held in Tekirdağ F-Type Closed Prison No 1, was released. Temiz was enthusiastically welcomed in his hometown Amed. In addition to Temiz's family, many representatives of associations and political parties welcomed him at the airport.
During the reception slogans such as "Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)", "Bê serok jiyan nabe (Without Leader there is no life)" and "Bijî berxwedana zindanan (Long live resistance of the dungeons)" were frequently chanted. A photo of Temiz with his mother, who died on 4 May 2014, during a visit in prison was also unveiled during the reception.
Temiz was arrested in 1994 in Amed and sentenced to life imprisonment by the State Security Court (DGM). He was imprisoned in Amed, Amasya, Ankara and Tekirdağ prisons respectively. Temiz was supposed to be released on 17 December 2024. However, his release was postponed by a decision of the Prison Administration and Observation Board. The grounds for the denial of release were that Temiz "did not request to leave the organisation", "acted by staying with the organised convicts" and "did not admit his guilt".
