ÇEWLÎG - The Chairs of CHP, DEVA and Saadet Party in Çewlîg (Bingöl) demand constitutional guarantees for all rights, especially the mother tongue. He also emphasises that Abdullah Öcalan should be met for the process to be concluded positively.

The National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission established in the Parliament within the scope of the Peace and Democratic Society Process continues to listen to names from different circles.

It remains unclear what steps the commission will take regarding the necessary legal arrangements within the scope of the process. Calls for talks with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan have not yet been responded to by the commission.

While the party representatives in the commission are cautious about the course of the process, local representatives of the same parties expect concrete steps to be taken in the process. According to the executives of different political parties in Çewlîg, Devlet Bahçeli should also meet with Öcalan depending on the course of the process. In addition, other rights, especially the mother tongue, should be constitutionally guaranteed.

'LET'S BE SINCERE AND PRODUCE SOLUTIONS'

Gülten Baylaz, Republican People's Party (CHP) Çewlîg Provincial Women's Branch Chair Gülten Baylaz stated that the process initiated for the solution is a positive development for the country. Gülten Baylaz drew attention to the work of the commission established in the Parliament and criticised the fact that no steps were taken despite listening to various circles. She also reacted against the prevention of the Peace Mothers from speaking in Kurdish in the commission. Gülten Baylaz emphasised that the AKP was the first negotiators of this process and that it should take more ownership of the process.

Gülten Baylaz stated that the government's appointment of trustees to the municipalities of the CHP was an anti-democratic practice and that it was not in line with the process. He noted that the opposition parties should develop policies for a change of government.

'IF NECESSARY, BAHÇELI SHOULD ALSO MEET WITH ÖCALAN'

Felicity Party Provincial Chair Muhammed Fatih Tiryaki reminded the village burnings and unsolved murders in the 1990s and said that they are ready to take responsibility to prevent the same things from happening.

Tiryaki reminded Devlet Bahçeli's call for Abdullah Öcalan to speak in the parliament and criticised him for acting as if the organisation and its leader Abdullah Öcalan were not involved in the process. "Of course, if it is the organisation that will lay down its arms and if this organisation has a leader, he should be taken as an interlocutor. There are very peaceful solutions in the letters sent by Mr Abdullah Öcalan. We thank whoever contributed to this."

Stating that Abdullah Öcalan's statements should be taken into consideration, Tiryaki said that the commission should also meet with Abdullah Öcalan. Tiryaki said: "If necessary, even Devlet Bahçeli should meet with him and talk about what he wants at a table. In this regard, even though the biggest interlocutor of this process is the organisation, the rights of all Kurdish people should be delivered."

Emphasising the need for constitutional guarantee of rights, Tiryaki stressed that the existence of the Kurdish people with a population of more than 30 million cannot be ignored.

'WE EXPECT ÖCALAN TO SPEAK IN PARLIAMENT'

Nihat Barac, the provincial chair of DEVA Party, said that the process could move in a positive direction if the parliamentary commission acted transparently.

Reminding Bahçeli's words "Let Öcalan speak in the parliament", Barac said: "This is what we are defending. If you are considering this peace process, let him (Abdullah Öcalan) come and speak in the Parliament."  Stating that the process was not carried out transparently and promises were not kept, Barac emphasised that political prisoners should also be free.

Barac concluded: "We want this to stop happening in this country and we want everyone to express themselves freely. Everything should be transparent in the process, the promises made should be open to the public. With the commission that has been established now, everything should be clearly explained and explained to the public. All political parties should be informed and political parties should go into the public and explain the process."
