NEWS CENTER - The Ministry of Interior announced that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu and Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık were suspended from office and a trustee was appointed to Şişli Municipality.
The Ministry of Interior dismissed Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was arrested for alleged "corruption" offence. Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık and Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan were also suspended. In the statement made by the Ministry; Şişli District Governor Cevdet Ertürkmen was appointed as trustee to Şişli Municipality.
According to the statement made by the Ministry of Interior, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık, Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan were suspended from duty.
In the statement made by the Ministry of Interior, it was reported that Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, who was arrested on charges of "aiding teror organisation", was suspended from office "as a temporary measure" on the grounds of Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law.
In this context, the Ministry noted that Şişli District Governor Cevdet Ertürkmen was appointed as the Acting Mayor of Şişli Municipality by the Governorship of Istanbul in accordance with Articles 45 and 46 of the Municipal Law No. 5393.
