ANKARA - Speaking at her party's women's group meeting, DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları drew attention to violence against women and said, “We can cope with this by organizing and fighting. We have no other option other than that.”

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları evaluated the developments on the agenda at the women's group meeting of her party.

The meeting was attended by members of the Peace Mothers Initiative, Fehime Poyraz, mother of murdered Deniz Poyraz, co-mayors of Mardin, Batman and Halfeti municipalities and many women. Women chanted “The trustees will go, we will stay” and “Jin, jiyani azadî (Woman, life, freedom)”.

WOMEN'S STRUGGLE

Tülay Hatimoğulları pointed out to the Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and said: “From Dominica to Rojava, from Iran to India, from Chile to Palestine and all over the world, we women have been and continue to struggle for freedom against the male-dominated capitalist system.”

Tülay Hatimoğulları drew attention to the slogan “Jin, jiyan, azadî” and said that this slogan spread to Turkey, the Middle East and the whole world with the struggle of women.

Pointing to the massacres of women, Tülay Hatimoğulları said: “Dear women; we are being massacred every day. In 2024 alone, 395 women were murdered by men. In October, 48 women were murdered. The deaths of 23 women are suspicious. However, the perpetrators of these deaths are the male-dominated order itself, leaving no room for doubt. The tally of the male order shows the highest rate of the last 14 years. Rojin Kabaiş died under suspicious circumstances. They had a confidentiality order on the file. The autopsy report was not shared with her lawyers and family. It was served by the partisan media.”

WE CAN COPE BY ORGANIZING

Tülay Hatimoğulları continued her speech as follows: “We do not want to lose one more person. We don't want to be suspiciously murdered and disappeared in the vocabulary of the state and men, and we don't want our perpetrators to be left behind saying 'she committed suicide'. We can cope with these by organizing and struggling. We have no other option but this. Therefore, we will not give up on this slogan. We will organize everywhere and in every field. Long live our organized struggle, long live women's solidarity.

TRUSTEESHIP AN ATTACK ON OUR SYSTEM OF CO-MAYOR SYSTEM

The government is attempting to take away our most fundamntal right to vote and be elected by appointing trustees. We repeat once again that trusteeship is against the constitution. It means usurping the citizen's right to vote and be elected. It means nullifying the election. It is a political coup by the judiciary and police. It means you cannot elect and govern yourself. The trustee is the enemy of the Kurds, the enemy of women, the enemy of everyone who is in opposition. The trusteeship is an attack on our co-mayor system.

IMRALI ISOLATION MUST BE LIFTED IMMEDIATELY

To those who say there is no Kurdish issue, I would like to emphasize once again that there is a Kurdish issue in this country and region. In the discussions that have been going on in recent days, we have expressed our word on this issue at every opportunity. I would like to underline it once again here. As DEM Party, we are in favor of an honorable peace on democratic grounds. For this, the isolation in İmralı must be lifted immediately and Mr. Öcalan must be freed.

YOU ARE SLANDERING

Dear women, there are pens in the palace that try to create sedition about the power and will of Mr. Öcalan, who writes with his ink what is blown into his ear. This politics of sedition has been tried for years. But it is futile. They cannot succeed. Those who say that the DEM Party is not in favor of a solution, this is a lie. This is a slander against us. What do you aim with this effort of sedition? Whose name do you speak, whose words do you write? This language is the language of hate. No one can bill us, the DEM Party, for the lack of a solution. The people of Turkey are fed up with these conspiracy theories and approaches. We will continue our struggle for an honorable peace and democratic solution with the same determination today as we did yesterday.

REACTION TO BAHÇELI

The MHP Chair made evaluations on this issue again today at this rostrum. Everyone should know that neither the Kurds nor we went to Washington or Moscow to seek visas for military operations across the border. We did not impose trustees over the will of the people, we did not ban their language and culture. We did not seek a solution. On the contrary, these pencil pushers and some politicians do. We are looking for the solution inside Turkey. We see the solution in Ankara and Amed. We see it in an equal, fair and democratic environment and a common life. Let no one try to throw mud at our honorable peace struggle. That mud will come back on you.”
