NEWS CENTER - According to KCDP's "2023 Report", men murdered at least 315 women in one year. 248 women died suspiciously.
The 2023 data of the femicide report, prepared by the We Will Stop Femicide Platform (KCDP) by compiling the news of violence against women reflected in the press every month and the applications received directly, has been announced.
THE YEAR THE ISTANBUL CONVENTION WAS SIGNED
The report pointed out that during the 15-year period in which the massacres of women were recorded, the massacres decreased only in 2011, when the Istanbul Convention was signed. The report included the following statements: “Since the discussions about the Istanbul Convention began, there has been an increase in femicides and suspicious deaths. In this year without the Istanbul Convention, there has been a huge increase in femicide and suspicious female deaths. While it is so obvious that many women survived when the Istanbul Convention was effectively implemented, the political power withdrew its signature from the Istanbul Convention."
EIGHT WOMEN WERE MURDERED IN MUĞLA
According to the report, most femicides were committed in Istanbul then Izmir and Ankara. Eight of the 315 femicides were committed in Muğla. All 8 of the women were tortured and murdered.
