The 22 years and 3 months prison sentence given to Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Leyla Güven, who was arrested after her status as an MP was stripped of, was upheld by the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Justice.
HER APPEAL WAS REJECTED
Güven was sentenced to 22 years and 3 months of prison with the accusation of 'being a member of a terrorist organization' and 'spreading terrorist propaganda' by Diyarbakır 9Th High Criminal Court. The appeal Güven's lawyers submitted to the Regional Court of Justice was rejected. The Regional Court of Justice 2nd Penal Chamber, evaluating the appeal for her release due to the ongoing trial process also rejected the appeal on grounds that she was at flight risk. The lawyers are expected to appeal to the Court of Cassasions.
